Our customer State Farm Insurance Agent Kathleen Peters is ready for the rain as she shows off her trendy red State Farm rain boots. Kathleen realizes the importance of vehicle inspections and maintenance to keep her 2009 Honda Accord reliable, especially on wet roads. Kathleen came in to get her vehicle smog test, and it was the perfect time to safety inspect her car too. Her Honda Accord passed smog and the safety inspection.
With the heavy rains expected this season, it is never too late to prepare your vehicle. Here are a few maintenance tips for wet weather. Know that our vehicle inspection report is included with any maintenance or repair service.
Wet Weather Car Safety Tips:
1. Keep tires inflated per the manufacturer’s recommendation: Underinflated or overinflated tires not inflated properly could impact how your brakes work.
2.Make sure you have at least 3/16 tread thickness to prevent hydroplaning.
3.Brakes – On wet roads it takes longer for brakes to stop.
-If you have a brake light warning sign on your dash or peddle feels mushy – have them checked.
4.Make sure your front head lights and brake lights are working and front lenses are clear.
5.Windshield Wiper Blades – If they are streaking of skipping – they are worn out and should be replaced.
6.Battery – Check the age – over 5 years old – Replace.
-Cold / wet weather breaks down car batteries and corrode terminals.
