Braking Safety Tips

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, get your brakes checked immediately!

Braking Safety Tips:

  1. Have your brake fluid checked. Brake fluid goes through the brake lines and into the system that actually slows and stops the wheels. Without brake fluid the brakes won’t work, so monitoring the brake fluid level at each oil change is vital.
  2. Never ride your brakes. That is, don’t let your foot rest on the brake pedal while driving. It only causes excessive brake pad wear.
  3. When you need to slow down, remove your foot from the gas pedal and let your vehicle slow naturally. Don’t apply the brakes until you need them.
  4. When driving your vehicle, the brakes get hot. Avoid getting them wet. Let’s say for example going through the car wash. The cool water hitting the hot pads can cause the lining to harden causing them to squeak.
