It is very important to monitor your vehicle’s cooling system especially during this unseasonably warm winter we are experiencing. One of our long time customers, Kevin C. came in for his usual 5K service on his 2007 Audi A6 Quattro. With his work schedule and commute, we only had a narrow window to perform his oil change and inspection. What we found in our inspection was his upper hose that attaches to the radiator was extremely brittle showing signs of cracking and coolant seeping.
The condition of the Audi A6 Quattro radiator hose could have stranded Kevin at an unpredictable time. Difficult to foresee exactly how much time it actually had before it completely failed, it was important to notify Kevin immediately so he could make an informed decision and get him back on the road safely. He has trusted Val & Mike’s Auto Repair with his vehicles for many years and realized the repair was important and imminent after Mike explained the condition of the hose.
It is important to have your vehicle inspected regularly. Vehicle components like hoses, belts and gaskets deteriorate from the environmental elements of heat, cold, sun, rain and pollution. Even parts on vehicles with low miles are not safeguarded from the environmental elements and the condition of those parts decline just as rapidly. Vehicles with low miles should be inspected regularly too to avoid unnecessary breakdowns.
The preventative repair worked out for Kevin. We are happy to share that we got the 2007 Audi A6 Quattro repaired that day and in time for him to drive to his job in Los Angeles.
