These days the dash in your vehicle has so many lights that when you start your engine the dash lights up like a Christmas tree! Some of the lights are telling you to stop immediately and other lights are just giving you a heads up to maintenance or low fluid. But how do you know what the lights mean? You could check the owner’s manual, but if you purchased your vehicle used the chances are you don’t have a manual. You can call us and ask. Sometimes we know what the light is by the description. But sometimes we get a call about the Aladdin lamp light or the triangle and exclamation point. Those can be hard to decipher by the description. Some things to remember: unless the light is red your car is probably fine. There may be a problem you should have checked, but you don’t need to pull over right away. A red light indicates a possible serious problem and should be checked immediately. It could also be an important reminder. A yellow or orange light means that a service is due or something needs to be repaired. If the light is flashing it is important that you contact your trusted mechanic. A blue or green light is only telling you that a system is on or operating.
